Are you happy with you moped?

Post by Dac »

ok, i was at a gas station today and some one was talking to me about my honda elite. i mentioned what i had done to it and they replied with ''yeah ,see , you always have to work on them''. i got thinking about how much i really do work on mine.
in the case of my honda elite, im happy with it. it could be faster but since the bore kit it has been reliable (900 miles with out break down) plus the good gas mileage really leaves me all around happy with it.
Other mopeds of mine require work or break down often, or im working on them so much i want to sell it when i get it running. When it comes down to it alot of people work on there moped every day, trying to get it to run, trying to get it to run better, or trying to make it faster. every one is always so rapped up with this they dont really enjoy the moped.

If it aint broke dont fix it. People who have no knowlage of 2 stroke engines tend to f*** them up. Im happy with my spree it makes a great trail beater.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

I would be happy with my scoot but it always seems to have a problem... although the problem is probably that it sat for 20 years and after $325 in repairs my mechanic still didn't have it tip top. Sadly the Honda dealer around here won't work on it because it is too old... regardless, when it is running properly it's a blast. Everyone asks questions about it...

i have a spree and a scat hovercraft, both from the same year (1986). while the fun ratio is quite inequal (the hovercraft being ten times as fun), the amount of work that i put into my spree per mile is much much less than the hovercraft.

im really interested in the economics of transportation. i know the spree has the potential to be the most efficient realistic mode. the total cost (accrued fixed and variable) per passenger mile of my spree just surpassed that of my car. i'm waiting for it to pass that of the public transit (bus). then i'll really love my spree!

I was extremely happy, once I got my Spree's top end rebuilt. But since it has started running like crap, I hate it honestly. I want to sell it and get an Elite, they strike me as being so much more reliable, and there's so much you can do to them as opposed to the Spree's. So on that note, if anyone wants a Spree, e-mail for pics, it's for sale.

yeah many of factors come into play with modding a elite out. if you dont know what your doing then your just going to fry and fry bore kits.

yeah...

first cylinder/piston (stock) fried because i was working on it, didnt put the cooling parts back on and rode it about 20 miles

second cylinder/piston
(63cc bore kit) lasted about a month then keep getting slower and slower till i barly moved. i think its do to the heat seized i had when i first put it on

Third cylinder/piston
(63cc bore kit #2) still breaking in, 110 miles down, way to many to go
