sprees are slow. you can make it do 40+ mph with an * load of mods and money . compared to elite. 88-93 you can get them to do 45mph all day long with 150$.
94+ can go insane speeds with very little mod's

My wife and I ride around all the time on my elite 50. Granted we are both thin, but combined we are @270. I have an 88' Elite which is somewhat modifiable. I have installed a 65cc kit, HP pulley and a less restrictive air filter. It will do around 40 on the flats with just me. If you want something that will consistantly and reliably do 50 get something bigger than a 50. 50's are easy here in Co. no plate, ins. etc thats my attraction to them, that and they are fun as *, but for faster speeds I would recommend something bigger.

hmmmm. something to consider. i didn't think about the no insurance and stuff. the thing is speed isn't THAT important. something really small like spree small is what i'm more attracted to. it will literally fit anywhere like even in the back of my jeep kind of small. I can easily handle 40 miles an hour. and my girlfriend and i would weigh 275 together so that is possible. What is a good price to pay for an elite 50? And the best year to get because i've heard 94 and after is good.

you can make the 94+ elite 50's out perform the elite 80's
but the elite 80 can carrie two people. But pending on what state your in the elite 80 is a motorcycle. so you need insurance and a cycle endorsement and what not

a spree wont handle that weight. it will bottom out.me nad a freind at 265 combined make a spree bottom out, and it will only go 30ish when mine would do 45-50. my elite does 75 and can handle 3 people, and fit in my jeep.

3? lol thats the most i fit on mine. i will not let a guy get on with me on something as small as an elite. however i did once have 2 girls+my fat * on my elite at one time. one girl sitting on the front of the set / driving. me behind her, and the other girl sitting on the rack.
the girl driving never been on a moped before. none of us were wearing helmets. the girl on the back had both legs sticking way out so she wouldn't burn herself on the tail pipe. one * of a ride.

no any elite 50 94-01 are known as dio's. they are insanely fast.
bore kit, carb, pipe and gear change. 75mph is average. pending on what gears you get it can go way faster but you loose take off.

I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
