I recently bought a 1987 SE50 Elite "S" and I'm sure glad I found this forum. I'm hoping that a service manual will be posted sometime. If not, I may buy one and send it in for posting.
Question - Is the 1987 SE50 a one-year only configuration? I've looked at the manuals for the '87 Spree and the '88 SA50, and it seems like my scooter is somewhere in between. Makes it tougher finding parts and stuff.
If it was sold for only one year, any information as to why?
No, actually I do have an Elite "S" (the factory decal says so).
As far as I can tell, in 1987 there was the SE50 (Elite S) and the SE50P (Elite). Per the owner's manual, the SE50 had a top speed of 38mph, while the SE50P could go 30.
OOOOMGGGGG NOOO WAY! you can always learn. there are many things i dont know. also, yes the se50 was only 1 year. it was only made in 87, the se50p was the purple one. so i guess the s was speed.
Actually, I believe that the "P" in SE50P stands for 'ped, as in moped. This would seem to make sense considering that, per the owner's manual, the SE50P has a rated top speed of 30 mph.
MySpree filled me in when it comes to sa50p or se50p or stuff like that.
its a color code. se50 is one color. se50P is a different color. im not sure how true this is but it seem to make since.

And a Bunch of other bikes.
My 1987 Elite has a big "Honda Elite 50s" sticker on the front and the model that matches it at bikebandit.com is the SE50P. The scooter is black and purple so I guess the P stands for purple?
