Post by snikro »

I finally got around to making some videos of the problems I've been having with my Aero 50, detailed in this thread http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4259

Video 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwLNc53gwH0

Video 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHRZSyyzHuk

Video 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duqrh-FAC88

Video 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni8KUiBYzsg

Now let's get some ideas

Your sucking air from somewhere. Check all the seals around the carb and around the case. Spray carb cleaner around the seals when the engine is running and see if the motor revs up. Or the carb is still gummed up, have it acid dipped and blowen out with compressd air.

Yea check for intake leaks.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

So basically there's too much air getting in the carb = running too lean? Then how come when I did a plug chop it was a good color?

Btw I'm using a pretty new honda factory air filter Dac

when it needs your hand over the carb to run right, that is a compression problem.

im thinking of getting a few parts ( CMR 72cc kit - $100.00 ) my question is are you sure that this will fix my problem? theres a few other things im thinking about getting with this. this would be the last of my money . i dont want to get this and find out its something else.

also does the videos he posted seem like a compression problem to you? that is 100% same as mine.

Kenney is right. :D Thats your starting point. When that thing did rev up it sounded great, that tells me the rings are good. Make sure your running injector oil too. Pre mix oil in your oil tank will lean it out also.

Well regarding intake leaks, I looked around the air case and I could only find really one questionable spot. This is where the case connects to the carb:

Look leaky?

that wouldn't be your problem, there talking about the thing the carb. is on. the tube like piece that goes down to the crank.

well we are not going to be able to tell much by photos when it comes to that part. just look it over for holes, or leaks or anything like that.

when the motor is running spay some starting fuild around the ends of that. if the motor rews up it means you got an air leak.

If thats the stock aero engine you can replace it with a dio, they never made a 72cc bore kit for the aero only a malossi 65cc kit and no more 8 to 1 gears are offered, the engine starts & runs so you have compression.
Can't afford speed then stay away from it!

but he dont want a new engine. he wants to make what he has run right....
Every * Time Some One Has a Problem You Tell Them To Get A New Motor. PEOPLE DONT WANT NEW MOTORS.
ok i ran my 92 for a few months with only one ring and a half blown cylinder. it had hardly any compression at all. so no. if the engine runs it dosnt mean its got compression.
