Spree boggin down Uphills at 15 MPH

Post by thatguynate »

I have a 1985 NQ50I, had an air leak in bottom end so I switched for another. Before it would top out at 20 on level ground now it is about 25. Problem is that sometimes when accelearating it bogs from 0-15 and if I go up a hill that it struggles on and go under 15 I slow to a crawl. It has a fresh piston, with rings and gaskets. I have my air screw set at 1 7/8 out from seated. I really am not sure whether it is a lean or rich condition when this is happening. Please help. Thanks. Nate.

plug chop
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Plug has been out and it is the color of poo. Somewhat lighter than most of mine though.

why dis Kenny_McPlugChop????
he helps ton of people. why you got to say s*** about him when you have a total of one post? ( sorry you have 4 now. really moving up ) I call him Kenny_McPlugChop out of respect, he does advise plug chops allot but most of the time it helps people find there problem. looking at the color of your plug is the first step of working on any 2-stroke.

Lol karma owned. But seriously I bother to take time to contribute to this forum for next to nothing and now you go calling me smart as a box a rocks? That doesn't seem very nice.

Yes, Kenny I am annoyed by your "plug chop" posts everywhere. Kharma worked its way around again and you are about as smart as a box of rocks. I told a friend about the seat of the pants impression of the bogging and he knew right away, apparently someone else here claimed to also. Problem fixed, no worries. Have a nice day.

What was the fix to this problem? My Spree is doing the same thing. Only bogs up-hill or between 0-15 mph.

If the plug comes out alright its probably clogged exhaust port/muffler.
