Yeah, I would think so. My spree did this too, different engine setups in the elites.

i didnt think anything about it. it gets to 5mph fast so its not like a huge deal. this hole moped is amazing though. get power, amazing speed for stock , take off blows my mind. i wish i would have found a 94-01 the first time instead of the 92 i got.

also whoa, your 4 post away from 1000 thats a big mile marker.

i dont know what to tell you man, sometimes my moped does the same thing but its because it's a honda (lol, cold blooded machines) and it needs to warm up. just a guess, but maybe at full throttle its letting to much fuel into the engine...just a guess

that new problem would be due to your jurry rigged intake ;)

buy a stock box and you'll be runnin cherry. youre water bottle intake may actually be too lean and definitely flows different.

try posting about getting a stock box on the hawaii boards, i could bet loads of people have that lying around somewhere.

has nothing to do with being a honda.. :P

from what I've seen so far, these bikes are setup beautifully to where you won't have problems unless you mess with things that should stay stock otherwise.

but yes it did also sound like it needed a good warmup. finally rode mine today, and i first let it warmup for a few min then idle dropped to normal and she was good to fly.

what do you mean? my custum air filter worked perfect for the past 3-4 days. and i have hit some big bumps before and it was fine. even after all of these it held right on tight ageanst the carb.

heres my thing. i hate the elite stock box. i have 2 of them in my shed. the stock box has the same amount of restriction if i put my hand a little over the filter and that dont help at all. i was thinking it might have knocked something in my petcock loose or something like. air flow isnt to problem.

Think about it, Honda put those restrictions there for a reason and the bike runs fine with them. By using your new filter setup, no matter what it is, it ISN'T STOCK. Therefore you don't know if its letting too much air in, or not enough. And I doubt you're readjusting/jetting your carb to compensate either way..

The point is, if you put on the stock box it will run right as Honda intended to with everything else stock. :!:

Plus I just took apart my airbox yesterday to check it out and it has a great design! There is virtually no unnecessary restrictions and it has just enough volume the tiny carb needs at 50cc.

Unlike FI cars, you can't just throw on a different style/shape/size intake on something carbed, especially something so small, and just have it work flawlessly. You'll always need to compensate.

simple sand in the jet. cleaned it and its back to normal. and you got to remember i dont rejet like most people when i do mods. i just add more or less oil to the gas. besides that I just ordered all my parts...
CMR 72cc kit ----- $100.00
Race gear set ------- $35.00
SEF Ramp Plate---- $15.00
Larger Jet for Carb-- $8.00
--------------------------------
Package Price ------$158.00
Freebies too.
*Compression Spring
*7.5 Gram Roller
*NGK Spark Plug
*OIL BOTTLE
** Shipping and handling would be $16.00

ill be glad when this comes in. the bore is not great but better then stock. the gearing is 8.44.1

yeah its 100$ im not expecting the best. but my stock one is half fried. and spending 220$ on stock cylinder and piston would be just stupid. any advice to make it a little better?
you said before a mid grade would to be get a cheap cylinder and port it right. what you mean by this?

yeah i would bet some good porting would help that cylinder out.

There is actually a guide on it in advance tech docs:
http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3480

Basically how I've had all my cylinder ported is widened exhaust port to fit gasket, knife edged transfer ports, and raised boost port. If you personally don't know how to do it, either practice on an old cylinder or send it out to someone.

I've got a friend and supplier I buy stroker parts from that have ported my cylinders.
