Everyong has a limit to their patience and I have reached mine. I've been working on it for two weeks and like you said I have messed it up worse than B4 so I'm throwing in the towel. It's a lot more then just this problem that is driving me crazy. This is the last straw sort of things. I don't have any of the tools necessary to fix the problems other than the basics. The engine seems to have plenty of compression IMO. I suppose I should replace the vacuum valve first and then take it to the shop if that doesn't work. Sorry if I came off harshly towards anyone. I wasn't trying to point that frustration in anyones direction. At least I learned some new things about how mopeds work. Again, Thanx for your help

Replace the vacume valve and get some new fuel lines then get you carb profesionally cleaned and replace the air filter. These really are easy to work on after you get the hang of it, and you dont ned more than a metric socket set and a pair of pliers to work on one.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
Have you had any new discoveries? I have the same problem.stoneluv32 wrote:Everyong has a limit to their patience and I have reached mine. id say start with the air filter. if u smother the carb with your hand (where the air filter hose goes to the carb) u will get some gas on your hand. thats called manualy chokin the carb. u should get it to start. if u do, id say re-oil the filter and c what happens. also, another thing that i can think of is the flaps on the reed valve could be open, when they should be closed. try this and c what happens. if u cant get it to fire, check your spark plug. if its wet, u fouled it out. get a new one. go rent a compression tester and throw it on there. c exactly what psi u have. u could have a broken piston ring. try these ideas and c what u come up with.

I can get it to "run" by smothering the carb. I checked the reeds and they appeared fine. I did not try to open them by pushing with my finger. Is there any chance that the reeds are stuck closed? It gets a spark. Newly bored cylinder, new rings and pistons. The thing ran fine except no power b/c broken rings. There has to be something that is keeping it from running. I even has a new air filter pre-oiled. The vacuum petcock works fine.

can u get it to rev up to almost full throttle when u smother the carb? if u can, try adjusting the needle setting on your throttle cable. u sure everything on your engine is sealed properly? having what i call "an air leak" your engine wont run. let me know what u come up with. oh, the reed valve only works off vaccume from the piston. just make sure the flaps are sealed, with no gaps.
