CVT or Engine Problem
my spree has a problem and ive read everythign on here and i cant figure it out. heres everythign ive done to try and fix it. first off when i got it, it wouldnt go fast then 15mph. so i cleaned the carbs, then adjusted them. cleaned air filter. then took cylinder head off and took off the cylinder, cleaned all the carbon off. my moped then went about 24mph. when i get up to anythign over 15 mph it seems to make a humming noise, sort of like when u put a manual tranny in reverse and then drive back words.(do u know what i mean???) so i took the tranny apart adn replaced both wheel bearings and inspected the gears, which seemed to be fine. but my spree will only do about 25mph. and does accelerate very slow, and then slightly picks up speed around 15 to 25mph. i dont want to take all the time to do the muffler de-carbonizing if i dont have to. so im wondering how i can test my clutchees and derive pulley and how i know if its good or bad. it seems like the pulley may be dropping RPM's to soon. all by buddies got the same ped and they all do about 32mph on theres...and that would be bone stock. PLEASE HELP!!!

You cant really tune one of these "by ear" so plug chopping is the only way to check the fuel air mix. Decarbonizing the muffler will help the bottom end. Is this a spree or a spree Iowa? BTW 120psi is GREAT compression for a high mileage spree.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Yeah, that psi is amazing. And i agree with you, plug chops give you a great idea as to what is going on.Kenny_McCormic wrote:You cant really tune one of these "by ear" so plug chopping is the only way to check the fuel air mix. that could be. But i would plug chop first to see what is going on motor wise. If the motor seems to be good then he should check that next.wrxstiguy2004 wrote:What about the belt slipping?... Might just be worn out.
