Adding Ram Air? http://youtube.com/watch?v=XD3kovndAyM&feature=user Besides cooling the engine faster, does it do anything else worth the time to add it?

Hey i know that video
Add things likes like that simply keeps the motor cooler. How much does that matter?
Kinda allot. Motors that get to hot will over heat, Trashing cylinder/piston/rings. Motors that are on general ran hotter then they should be tend to not last as long.

Now what this does is adds allot more air flow and ensures that you are getting Nice fresh air. ( some moped bodys kinda block that opening from getting much air at all) Keeping the motor cool will help its life span.
Also, if you do any sort of long trips on your bike i would say add one of these hands down. Longer trips get your motor hotter. I have one of these on all my bikes, never had any problems with them at all.

Its your choice if you want to add one or not. But for free ( or if you dont have the stuff, its super cheap) and super easy to put on. It will keep your motor cooler. But like your question ask.. It does not do anything else.

Oh good.

=) Good to know. Even if it just keeps the engine cooler it's still worth it.

Thank you!

if you run a stock engine it will not help, but a colder heat range spark plug does the same thing, i run a temp guage only on my full stroker engines.
Can't afford speed then stay away from it!

dude, A full stroker has nothing to do with what we are talking about. And what do you mean by "it wont help" ? how would it not help? Its helping a fan blow more air onto a motor.

If you put a fan blowing west in a field with south blowing winds, whats going to happen? Basically the same thing as a stock cooling system. Now what were to happen if you put a big fin on it with the opening facing north? The big fin would redirect the south blowing winds into the fan force more air though the it.

Dude. The more cool air blowing onto the super hot motor the cooler its going to get. Its a no brain-er.

Plus of course the increase in air (and so Oxy) density from colder air...

Honda engineers did allot of weird things. But im not sure why they didnt put that on there. Come to think about it, not a single stock moped i have seen has had one on it.

But after hours of thinking, and brain storming with some top notch mechanics we cant seem to think of a reason why they didnt.
The only reason i can come up with is if you slam it on the side it will crack. (along with half the body) but you have to slam it, not just drop it. But if that was there reason they would have worried about the body way before that.
