starting

hi i have a 1984 honda spree and it makes a really bad screch and crunch noise when ever i try to start it but it dosent make noises when it runs.
can any body help me?

Mine does that when the battery is low...

Clean and lube the starter parts (all the gears and the shaft of the motor) 3-in-1 would make a good lube.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

This is true. Hook it up to a small motorcycle battery charger if you have one and let it trickle for a few hours.
