Big bore

Post by 01silverado »

Im still pretty new to this scotter stuff. How do you get more cc's by using the same size piston and your stock crank? It looks like ebay just has the piston and head.
thanks

A bore kit is a bigger piston, a bigger cylinder, Bigger rings, And a bigger head. (the stock head is some times used. )

They run about 100-200$ and will improve your take off big time.

With your 87 elite you can get a 63cc bore kit for about 110$ at VT Cycles.
(there web site is outdated just call them up and talk to them. )
A bore kit will improve your take off allot but only improve your top speed by like 5mph. A 87 elite does not have after market gears so there is not much you can do for top speed.
one of my bikes has the same motor as yours. I got a bore kit, high speed pulley kit, a jet for the carb, and i drilled a few baffles out of the tail pipe. The take off was amazing. It went so fast off the line. But top speed was only like 40-45mph.
But being it was my only bike at the time, it was total worth the $150 it cost me. With the improved take off i could hit top speed way way faster. And even the 5-10 mph was good enough for me at the time.

i hope all this info helps you.
