shaving head..

Post by SPREEtown »

so one just removes .020 in from the head? are there other adjustments, porting, etc that need to be done? and what exactly does shaving this off do?

thanks.

what it does is it raises the compression. Making the take off better.
Wont do hardly anything for top speed. but it is still worth doing if you have all the tools.

so the compression is higher because the chamber for the combustion is larger?

is this what removing the gasket would do also? is this still an easier mod if one has unlimited access to a machine shop and qualified machinist?

and w/ either of these, is there a need for other mods or adjustments?

please forgive any ignorance or dumb questions on my part, im trying to understand what this mod does.

thanks

after doing this it is smart to go to honda and get a bigger jet (like $5). See, doing this will make your motor run faster/harder/whatever. Witch could lean it out. Its best to get a new bigger jet.
A new jet will even it out with the new mods so you will be perfect. Not lean or rich.

And, i hate to go ageist you burnt toast but if i had all the tools, i would shave the head before i would run with out a gasket. But thats just me.

And dude, if you have unlimited access to a machine shop and good machinist i would do allot of stuff. Pulley mod, intake , tail pipe. i mean its a spree so you are never going to get a ton of speed. but you can do all that for free. So i don't see why you wouldn't

You must first remove a small amount of metal from the fins so the head will sit still and level while it is being milled.

I had no difference after the intake mod, the head mod might, just lower your needle clip a notch and do a plug chop as soon as you get it back together.
