help with my build

Post by greg_bingham »

okay....

i've got a '98 engine coming from ebay. cases, crank, gears and a few other things-

do the electrical bits from the sb50 interchange with the 94+ motor?

here's an interesting excercise- if you had about ~1200 budget to build a motor, how would you go, and where would you source the parts?

ah also will the better forks off the newer elites interchange with the older models? (mine's an 89)...

I've spent about $600-800 so far.

And noticed, your in Texas where is Tomball at? I'm in San Antonio.

Tomball Texas is about 211 miles east of you Burnt_Toast . ( 3.3 hour drive)

I guess with that much money i would have to say a mini stroker with a Polini Corsa bore kit. ( 100% what Burnt Toast has)

you might have enough to go full stroker but that really takes allot of time/money. I would go mini stroker.

i personally get all my stuff from VTCycles. But i know burnt toast got most of his stuff from other people in hawaii.
i know Burnt_Toast also gets stuff from a place near him. I believe its called something like 'stroke it'. Were they sell stroker motor parts. Im sure he will post under me with a link for you.

As much as i hate posting this link...
ForumsHawaii.Net - Moped and Scooters Enthusiasts.
In the wanted/for sale part of that forum there is a ton of people with good cheap parts. But that site is full of full grown adults that act like 5 year olds. And 2/3rd of the people there are 'e-gangsters'. But i know that people do sell allot of stuff there.
I would go with VT cycles way way way before i would buy any parts from anybody on that site. VTcycles webpage is way out of date so just call them up for real up to date info. Those guys that work there are very cool. They will set you up with real good deals too.

For sure, I had to surf through lots of garbage until I finally found some good people to talk to advice and buy parts from over there.

Dac mentioned Strokeitimports.com but they mostly carry jog type big bore parts, not dio.

It's true, the best info on dio's you can't really find by typing it on google but the info is there if you look hard enough.
