Removing rear tire

Post by Jandygirl »

I have a 86 Honda Spree and my tire is BAD. How do I remove the tire to put on a new tire?

I dont know how to say this, you pull the wheel off (this will require muffler removal for the rear) and change the tire, I would HIGHLY recomend you let somebody SHOW you how to do this.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Okay that's what I have brothers for. So I just remove the muffler and the wheel should come off, well I will give it a try!

Muffler is held on by 3 bolts, 1 on the air box and 2 on the engine and 2 nuts on front part of the engine at the exhaust port. Once that is off, the wheel is held on by one large nut. I've found the easiest way for me to get it off is to turn the rear brake to a really tight setting, then lock the rear brake and then turn the nut. Once that's off, the whole wheel just kinda pops off. Replacing the tire is just like a bicycle tire.

Make sure you release the brake before trying to take the tire off.
