'84 Spree won't restart

Post by henrietta »

I have an '84 Spree that I just replaced the battery in. Put the new battery in and it started up after a try or two. Rode it about 2 miles and turned it off for about 15 minutes, and then when I tried to start it again, no go. I can hear the engine turning over, trying to start, but not enough to make it run. Any idea what this could be?

Could be a # of things, try holding your fingers over the airbox intake holes (directly above the rear mud shield).
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

One very simple thing to check It happened to me once. Make sure your plug wire boot on the end of your plug wire is attached tightly to your spark plug. Vibration made mine come loose and was not on tight enough to start the engine. You will have to remove the side panel to get access to it.

Air intake: where the engine sucks in air. On the airbo lid (part of the rear mug guard) there are two little holes put your fingers over em and start it that way. if your flexible you can reach right in there with the panels and choke it buy hand.

I tried to start it today and it wouldn't go. I also cleaned the sparkplug and still no luck. Any other ideas? Alternator or starter motor maybe?
