Flat rate is a b****.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Would a Honda dealer charge the same amount for shipping? I was thinking about going in to my local dealer, having them order the parts, and then picking them up there. I'm curious whether anyone else has had success with that.

Do that (order through local dealer). They won't charge you any shipping charges that way (that's exactly what I do). Order off their web site if you can, to avoid commission and conversation. My dealer has higher prices if you walk in vs. order off the web site.
