Key + Ignition = stuck

Post by chrisdangerpants »

My key is going into the ignition just fine, but it wont turn either way. It takes like 5 minutes of jiggling back and forth for it to finally get it to move from the off position. Any ideas?

Also, how much is a new one if its shot? Thanks!

Ps- i have an 86 spree

Its work out, the key and switch are probably both worn, take the switch to a locksmith and have him make a key that matches the worn out pins.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

I lost the key for my '85 Spree and thought I would have to get another ignition. I took the lock from the trunk (very easy to get it off) up to the Honda dealer and they made me another key for $3. There is a code on the lock that they use to replicate the key.

Strange, the trunk lock will open with anything you can jam in there, no pins.

Then you switch is either jamming or worn out. Try spraying some penetrating lube in there.

Hey all, new to the forum. I'm trying to fix up my neighbors spree and it seems that someone has cut off the ignition module. Do I have to get a new one or is there any way I could get around this like hotwiring or anything.

I would get a new one, these things are easy enough to steal already.
