I know this has been covered before but I could not find the answer. When I hit the starter button nothing happens. I tried jumping from another bike battery, but still nothing. I looked at the wiring diagrams could not figure them out, not too good at electrics.
Should I be able to get a voltage reading on the starter solenoid connector when I press the starter button? From looking at the electrical diagram it looked like I should get 12 volts between the red and red/white wire on the connector when I hit the starter button.
Could it be the starter button is just not making contact? If that is it, is it hard to take the housing apart to clean the contacts?

my bike did the same thing, i couldn't jump it, but i just recharged the battery with a $20 1 amp trickle charger (available at autozone) and it started up fine.
I can't believe it. They both started. I didn't know you had to put the brake on. That's what I get for not having an owners manual. It would be nice if all problems were that easy to fix.
Thanks guys.
