Is there a little spring that goes on the bystarter needle before you plug it into the carb? I had a little spring 5/8 inches long by 1/8 inch in diameter that I didn't know where it came from so I put it on the bystarter needle before plugging it into the carb.
I looked in the service manual and didn't see the spring but did not know where it came from. I also had a little needle about 1/2 inch long that I dropped and couldn't find. Any idea where the spring and needle go? This is not the spring that goes on the end of the throttle cable, it is there and so is the needle on the end of the throttle cable.
The Spree is running ok but the plug is oily and it seems to be using a lot of two stroke oil.

It could be the bystarter. There are only 2 needles, one on the throttle cable, one on the bystarter. On the bystarter, it goes needle, brass fitting, spring, bystarter body (from the bottom up). You really shouldn't have disassembled the bystarter far enough to lose those parts. The bystarter is an enormously overpriced part to pay to replace.

There are only springs inside, are you missing a lock spring on one of the adjustment screws? your missing parts are more htna likely where all your problems are, I need pics.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Ok guys, I figured it out. I took the bystarter off and looked at it again. The spring is the one that pushes the bystarter needle down. It must of fell out before when I took the bystarter off. I didn't try to take the brass holder off before but this time when I took the bystarter off the little brass holder stayed down in the carb hole and I realized that is where the spring went.
This getting old and not being able to see or remember what goes where is keeping me busy fixing things. I now have two Sprees that run like a top. Thanks guys for the help.
