Need help about roller weight on Aero 50

Post by solstice »

I want to speed up my 85 Aero 50 and I'm new in the scooter domain. I'm not sure about rollers, how the weight interact with top speed or acceleration. Could somebody explain that to me? And by the way, what's the best setup for my scooter?

Heavier weights shift faster, too heavy and it will load the engine too quickly causing slower acceleration. To light and your not taking advantage of the engine. They dont affect top speed, only how you get there.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

I've read that an aftermarket speed pulley is available for the Aero 50 and offers anywhere from 4-6MPH. I'm not sure what brands are best, someone else will have to comment on exactly which one to get. I'm thinking about getting one myself off ebay bit I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure (but not entirely certain) that pulley doesn't fit our '83-'84 Aeros. It fits the NB50, not the NB50M.

Hmm you might be right. I haven't read the description since I bookmarked it a week ago or so. I remembered it being listed for 83/84s but a reread shows that is not the case. Or at least it isn't explicitly stated that it will fit

The only difference in a M model that iknow of is it has a detuned exhaust pipe (pretty much a straight pipe with a muffler instead of the standard semi expansion chamber pipe). I bet $5 that pulley fits you M.
