exhaust baffle mod how-to

Post by evilone »

I tore my crap muffler apart to see what was rattling. Notice the drill bit inside muffler? Well, I figured i'd post a pic to show others where the 2 baffles are (near exhaust outlet) and how long bit needs to be. Anyone got an un-modified se50s muffler for 87 elite?

Yep, someone drilled baffles then plugged the holes in one step!

Wow. I wonder if that is what is stuck in my old muffler now. It rattles like crazy and sounds like it has something about that same size stuck in it.

Once, I tore apart a type IV volkswagen engine (for a Porsche 914) in preparation for a rebuild and found a Snap-On swivel plug socket in between one of the heads and cooling tin. Someone was swapping the plugs, dropped their socket in there and just wrote it off instead of pulling it out. Must have been wonderful for cooling.
