stubborn spree part deux
Got the new parts, rings and gaskets, spent two hours trying to put the jug back on with no luck
My patience has run out trying to get this thing to start. should I take it to a repair shop and bite the bullet or throw the engine in a box, and send it to one of you to fix it?

spree part duex
Bustduster, I already have the cylinder off-that's my problem. I can't get it back on over the new rings,,,I tried so hard I broke the top ring so now I have to buy more
Are you saying take the piston off the the rod and put it in the cylinder past the rings and then put the piston back on? And what is a ring compressor...I read the service manual how to install rings it never mentioned the ring compressor

If you can run on one ring, I should be able to run on a new bottom ring and the old top ring. Guess I wasn't using enough oil= I will use more next try.
I don't want to take off the piston, then I won't be able to get IT back on
I wiil take the engine off frame so I can put it on my workbench and reach it easier////
