86 Spree wants to die when hitting brakes

Post by spurboy6 »

My 86 spree will die if I dont keep the throttle open half way when I come to a stop, if I release the throttle my scooter will die, then I have a hard time starting it again, could this be fixed with a throttle cable adjustment? Or is it a throttle screw adjustment? Either way my scooter will not idle, I have to stay on the throttle at stop signs, and as I said i have a hard time starting it after it dies, it will not start with the kick start, I have to stay on the electric start for like 20 seconds, then it will start to sputter and then start, anyone have any suggestions?

Turn your idle screw clockwise to increase the idle speed.

Clean your carb several times.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
