Spree Needs A Total Overhaul

Hi everyone, I'm new here to the forums. I just recently got a Spree from my neighbor. Its been pretty neglected for some time judging by the looks of it. I'm thinking it needs an overhaul...bad. I don't know anything about these and would love some input from you guys on where I should start. Should I completely break it down, clean and inspect, and then build it back up? Time isn't an issue. I kind of need a new project to distract me from school/work stress anyway. I have also noticed the ignition has been cut off so I gotta get a new one. Know how much they go for? Check out ebay, bikebandit and cheap cycles for parts. Those are the 3 places I know where you can get stuff. Also check your local Honda dealer because some people have a lot of luck with them (other people are completely ignored)

I don't know how bikebandit and cheapcycle works but according to their site they have quite a bit of stuff in stock. also post on the for sale section of the forum, sometimes people have what you need.

So I've been loking around and I was thinking about getting a big bore kit while I've got the bike apart but I guess that wont happen cuz the spree doesn't have gears or something? I saw a thread with someone saying you can swap out a spree motor for an elite. How hard is this to do and how much would it cost me for a motor?
