to hone, or not to hone, that is the question?

I am in the process of installing new rings in my 86 Spree. The cylinder looks really good, no scoring or sings of a ridge, etc. The new ring end gaps look great. My question is this: Do I need to hone the cylinder, or just put in the new rings? Is this a chrome cylinder, or just chrome rings?
The manual doesn't even mention honing the cylinder.
Thoughts?

if there is no scoring, dont bother.

Do not hone. But lightly crosshatch wetsand with like 600grit sand paper, its a better alternative to honing when cyl is in good condition but still helps seat new rings.

lightly hone as mentioned above so the rings have something to wear in on.

I will very lightly scratch in a cross hatch pattern and give it a try.
