My 85 spree has been stalling a bit. It will stall right after start up. and also stall occasionally when I stop at intersections or stop signs after extended amounts of driving.
Could adjusting the carb help?

At minimum you could try turning in the throttle screw (called "idle" by some) 1/4 to 1/2 turn and see if it does any better assuming it doesn't try to take off with that screw setting. Do the adjustment when it's up on the center stand to see if the wheel begins to turn when you turn the throttle screw in by 1/4 turn after about 10-15 seconds.
If you haven't cleaned the carb, you should also do that.

The carb clean is good advice but also change your spark plug and clean your electrical contacts for the coil just to be safe.

Define turn over, I hate those words, please use "crank over" and "fire".
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

ok. it tries to start but the engine doesn't kick in. there is noise, it's not a clicking noise so i don't think it's the starter.
does that make since?

Put in a new spark plug, make sure plug wire is on tight to plug, and charge your battery.

Maybe you hooked up the coil backwards?

Its a spree, they run on luck and hope, if you are confident it will start it will either start or not start to * you off.
