Speed limiter on a Spree?

Post by jacoby0419 »

I just bought an 84 spree this weekend and have been running it the first part of this week. Runs pretty good, I've already put about 25 miles on it. It needs a new muffler(the one on it has holes rusted in it) and some other minor work and overall I'm pretty happy, the only issue I have ran into is that when I hit 35 mph (only happens full throttle down a big hill) it cuts the gas just like on a car when you hit the speed limiter, then i get throttle back at about 25 mph. Thanks in advance for your help

Engine cranks faster than the carb, lean out happens. you can melt the piston REALLY easy doing that.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

So is this indicative of a problem with the bike, or was I just going too fast for it to handle?

Do a plug chop on level ground and dont floor it down big/steep hills. They are know to do this, mainly you.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I will do a plug chop and try to not go so fast down the hills. :D
