Loose airbox?

Post by snikro »

My '85 aero 50 is running great (starts instantly, idles good, etc) except for when you start driving at first it accelerates ok but in a few seconds starts bogging with throttle and losing power. When it bogs down you have to ease up on the throttle or the engine will die. If you just let it idle for a minute or two its back to normal and you can accelerate again but the same problem develops within seconds. I was checking things and I had read on the forum that the connection between the airbox and carburetor has to be very tight, I checked mine and if you move the airbox it jiggles a little bit but I dont know if thats the problem. It might be an air leak but at this point im just trying things. How do I know how tight it should be, and if that might be the problem? here's a picture of the connection:

Do a plug chop.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
