Turn signals

Post by nderrick »

So I just bought an '86 Spree about two weeks ago. It's my first scooter ever and I'm loving it. It runs great, however, the turn signals don't work. The weird thing is they didn't work the first time I road it, but they did the second time, and now they don't work at all. The same thing kind of happened with the head-light, it didn't come on the first time, but it does every time now. The tail-light/break-light works just fine. I checked the fuse and it is good. So I don't really know what I should do, or if I should just rewire the turn signals or replace the wire harness. Has anyone else had this same problem or know an easy way to fix this myself?

Thank you for your time.

Start cleaning/greasing(there is a special grease but regular Vaseline or bearing grease will work) connections.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

I know this is going to sound silly but it fixed my turn signals that did not work. My left hand turn signals worked but not the right. The bulbs were ok. I got my volt meter out to see if the wiring connections were getting voltage when the turn signals were turned on.

I stuck the positive lead in the hot connection and the negative lead in the green wire (I think). THEY STARTED WORKING.. My Spree had not been running for some time either so I guess the connections were a little corroded. Hope this helps.
