Riding 86 spree then died?

Post by Fordpower78 »

i have a 86 spree and it was running decent but then it just died like there was no spark but it has spark and is getting fuel in the carb. so once i got it home and did some more checking i wasn't getting gas in the cylinder nor on the plug. i think i have the carb setup up correctly and i have cleaned the carb completely and the bowl fills up and if i cover the intake side of the carb it pours gas out but still no gas on the plug the plug was a mid shady of brown when it died at full throttle for 10 min. ride. I dont know what else to check. can someone let me know what things to check. also i could only top out at about 23-24 mph, thought it should of been better then that? Any help would be much appreciated. thanks

could have blown a ring or something, check compression.

well... i just check the compression and with the kick start i got 37 psi and with the electric start i got 17 psi so i must of cracked a ring or something but it makes no scraping sounds so hopefully its not bad. what can i do to beef it up to get more power of of it?

dunno but the engine has to come apart no matter what, drop it out and get it on a bench.

something happened to the piston rings, take the top end apart and have a look.
