well dude. If it wasn't nessicary Honda wouldnt have put it there. Do you have any reason for wanting it off? If nothing else it prevents your shoelace from getting wrapped up in the belt and having your leg sheared off and mangled while you go tumbling down the road into the path of an 18 wheeler.

Yea, you will f*** up the starter.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

haha i get what you mean....but i dont want to actually ride it with it off....i just want to see everything working and making sure the belt and s*** isnt slipping cuz i heard the clutch slip the other day...also my friend wants to get into tuning and he doesnt even know how a cvt works so i wanna show him......if i still had my snowmobiles out i would show him with those......so would it be okay if i just turned on the motor and revved it a few times?how bout if i take the start pinion off?hmm?

Using the starter will bend it cause its unsupported. A spree doesnt have a CVT, fixed gearing.

The starter pinion assembly (some call it bendix or throw gear) is supported at one end by the cover. If that vibrates loose while you are running the motor you could be in for some trouble. Like Kenny said if you run the starter with the cover off that can also push off the pinion.
