Elite SA50 top speed

Post by gobucks »

my elite only goes about 32 mph, i have derestricted it by grindng the exhaust washer and pulling the plate off of the variator, i have also cleaned the carb, did a plug chop, decarbonized the exhaust and did the rings, head gasket and base gasket , is this normal?

I had this problem, but mine would only go 27mph max. Today it goes over 35-37 and what I did was put in a new pulley, rollers and ramp plate (bought all on ebay for less than $50) and took about 45 minutes to put in.

Depends on your weight, wind direction and how hilly the area you ride in is.

If your rather light, don't have much wind and ride on a flatter road, that is a little slow..should get about 35. How many miles does it have, it might just need a need belt.
Honda Elite SA50-S

Stock motor, 9:1 gears, Kelli High speed pulley=a top speed of ?? Maxed the speedo out if that counts..average 45 mph
average 85 mpg

Is it a P model? they have crappier variators and exhaust systems.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

The p has a smaller variator ramp and the pipe is of a cheaper crappier design.
