Spree Trouble

Post by cowboy71 »

Hello All,
I have a 1987 Honda Spree that I picked up in early spring of 08, I put on almost 1000 miles on her and so now she sits with 4250 miles. My problem is I was heading to work the other day and while going down a hill ( the spree reach 34 mph.) and then lost power and wanted to die out, so I let off the throttle and coasted her to a stop (engine still running) but when I went to give it gas the spree would only go about 5 mph. or so and just want to die out. Last night I took off the petcock to check the fuel filter in the gas tank, that did not look bad at all. So I put that back together and checked the new spark plug I put in a few weeks ago, that looked good then I tried rideing the spree again only to have the same problem and I do not know what to do next or what to try. Any advice would be greatful and thank you in advance.

Clean the carb, check the airfilter.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Checked the fuel filter and the air filter is brand new changed the same time the spark plug was. Will try the carb.

Spree Trouble

Post by cowboy71 »

Just an update on my Spree, I had a chance to clean the carb. today and she runs real nice. What can I do to prevent this from happening again, is there anything I can add to the tank after I fill up with gas?
Thanks Ron

Go buy a in line filter wherever mower parts are sold.

Anybody with 2 thumbs and a IQ over 70 can work on a spree.

Wait a minute. Last time you said two thumbs and an IQ over 50. Did they get more complex or something?

Not retarded, just uneducated. Check the technical documents section for the service manual. That way you get better information and it saves us a lot of typing. After you read up on it, if there is something you don't understand then we can help with the last few details.
