If it was left outside the cable is junk.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

As long as it is running good and not bogging down the answer is maybe.
You may want to check your tires and inflate them to proper psi.
A new spark plug would not hurt. Check your air filter and make sure its clean and not falling apart. A new one would be better. Also change the gear oil back by the rear tire and put fresh oil in there as well.

were is the air filter located? My dad was the one who normally worked on it but I m wating to learn about all the stuff myself

Keep looking . You will find it. Hint-- its under a cover with a hose running to it.
