Synthetic vs. El-Cheapo 2-stroke oil - difference?

Post by koelpien »

A coworker was telling me that I should use synthetic 2-stroke injector oil in my spree instead of regular 2-stroke oil, because it will burn cleaner, and thereby NOT gunk up the exhaust as quickly with build-up.

However, synthetic oil (and the Honda oil from the motorsports dealer) is 3-4 times the cost of cheap regular oil.

Is this worth it to buy expensive oil, or is Wal-Mart's 2-stroke injector oil equal to Honda's or AMS oil?

Not that the difference between a $3 bottle of oil and a $9 bottle of oil is going to bankrupt me, but the difference is about three fill-ups at the gas station!

Thoughts?

I use the Honda GN2 oil as thats what everyone states is the best. But I am also interested in synthetic oil as I run it in all my cars.

Are there people here that are running synthetic oil, and if so why?

random crap puts random crap in the ex port and muffler.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
