UPDATE on Da-Scoot Paint & Speaker Encloser

depends
depends really... if the paint u used stuck on good to the plastic before you would not need to remove it all..jstone wrote:I know nothing about painting so help me out... If i painted over the plastic before then i'll need to remove that before i put the primer on right? And especially if it was black paint? Or does the lighter primer cover the darker paint?
just scuff the paint and primer over it... 2-3 coats of a high build primer will cover any color paint and fill in most low spots...
If the paint "fish eyed" or looks like sh*t... u would wet sand the whole panel down with 400-600 grit sand paper to take it off... ur basically making the panel as smooth as possible.. no rough edges of paint..
Then you primer...and wet sand with 1000-1500 again... then clean it up with wax and grease remover like 2-3 times and its ready for paint.

Re: is that
i used and spray gun... the first paint job i did was with a spray can and it came out fine.. but just wasnt the quality of paint i wanted for the rebuild...eight08boy wrote:is that spray paint or gun if spray paint wut kind thanks alot
Its ALL ABOUT PREPERATION!! no matter if your using gun or can.. if you sand out any imperfection 1st and the make sure the paint will stick...it should look just fine!!

If your tryin to take ALL the paint off.... like back down to original paint... then yes use a heavy grit paper like 80 or 60jstone wrote:So its better to use a higher grit paper when removing paint? That could be my problem for getting my old paint off, i've been trying with 80.
but u have to be careful b/c on plastic it will leave deep scratches that might not come out later...
U wanna start by knockin down all the flaky paint or any paint that isnt sticking.. with heavy grit..
then just smooth it out with like a 120 or 140 grit.... then you wet sand with 400
when you run your hand down it... it should feel smooth... if there is a "lip" of paint..sand it flush.....
do this until smooth then lay primer...

Wiring for amp and stereo
Ok the wiring if pretty simple as long as you have a little wiring skillz
It should look like this..

The confusing part would be the switch...
You run your remote wire from the amp to one side of the switch **NOTE THIS IS A 2WAY SWITCH**
Then you run the POWER wire from the AMP to the other side of the switch.. then you run a wire from there to your battery...
But basically you ground the amp out to the battery along with the stock ground wires...
The same with the stock power wires and the one wire from the new switch...
all the other wires ex. speaker wires 7 RCA cables are ran down a hole in the bottom of the seat and tied to the frame.....
If there are any ??'s or if this is a bad diagram let me know ill try to make it more simple...
Thanks

ADDITON
NOTE: I am running everything off the stock battery... if you are goin to be using a stereo like this DAILY.. i would recommend adding an additional battery to keep the load off the charging system... u can do this by "jumping" the batteries together...
If you do not add a battery this system will drain your battery if you leave the accessoires key on... and then your blinkers will only work at high idle...

amp
thanks..
Well the amp is just installed under the seat
its a small enough amp to fit..
basically i drilled a few holes in the bottom of the seat for ventalation so the amp dont over heat...
but eventually i will trim out the amp and make a flush panel so when you lift the seat all the wires will be hidden and it will be nice and clean..
if you dont want to do any extreme speaker pods... anyone can just screw some speakers to the panel.. especailly the Elites that have the glove box center section...
then run all you wiring as shown in my examples

i built a box on mine on the back, With a cd player facing forward, and then 6 1/2s tilted at a 45. But ive had too many problems with the cd player on the moped. I don't know if its due to moisture, the constant change in voltage, vibrations, the very bumpy ride or all of the above. but im on my 5th cd player on it
i would also like to regain my back rack
