Fuel Question
if i apply a vacuum on the line going to the petcock how fast should the fuel be coming out of the line, presently it is just a drip about every two to three seconds.
It should flow more than that. Imagine an open bottle with the same diameter tube as your gas line attached to the bottom and the fuel at the same height as is in your gas tank to the end of the tube. That's how fast it should flow.
Remove the petcock and soak the inside with carb cleaner. Also remove the filter inside the tank and make sure its clean.

I've used the kind that comes in spray cans to clean out obstinate ones with no apparent damage. The "parts cleaner" type stuff is a definite no-no though.PimpinSpree wrote:
will carb cleaner damage the diaphragm? and always remember. don't blow compressed air into the petcock, unless you wan it to always flow..... like mine
Sometimes trying to move the diaphragm by attaching an ear cleaning type bulb to the vacuum line while soaking with cleaner helps. Don't overdo the pressure or suction though.

Yeah PimpinSpree you're right compressed air not a good idea. I used a blunt wooden skewer a couple of times on 2 basket case petcocks to help release stuck diaphragms (going in from the fuel side). On one it worked great and on the other I converted it to an always flow

Take the vacuum line off and put it in your mouth and suck, it dont take much to get the valve to open.greenninja37 wrote:how do i know if mine is clogged up? i dont have a vaccum to use, but when i pull off the tube ....nothing will drip out at all,,,,,my spree hasnt been able to start and idk if this is the reason why
