Thanks for the help with My Spree!

Post by Saltisall »

Just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone in the forum community here for answering questions and helping with my Spree.

Granted, this is my first post but I didn't even have to ask any questions because contrary to some noobie beliefs the 'search' feature works well and I used it!

The bike that we purchased is a 1987 Honda Spree - 2500 miles was in 'Hella ugly Teal' with sweet pink decals.

So then, What I've done with the help of the forum or just trying my best with the 'very' limited mechanical knowledge I have.

Located and replaced a flasher relay
De-carbonized the exhaust (Lye method via Tech walk though)
A good carb clean (Via tech walk through)
Removed all plastics and used a member recommend 'Krypton' Paint for plastics to give it some new life.
Upgraded to a synthetic honda injector oil (goodbye blue smoke)
Replaced the rear tire tube
Replaced the battery and got the push button start working
Drilled holes in two of the baffles for increased top end.
Started adding a few capfuls of seaform to the tank every fill up.
It had no seat lock/ignition so until I find new ones I wired a simple chrome toggle switch to turn the accessory on and off. (previous owner installed a fuse under the seat that he would disconnect after EVERY ride)

Day of purchase top speed 24 mph w/smoke
Currently 30 mph w/slight smoke (just a tad)

I've included some photo's of the bike! Also two pictures of my other scooters 92 Honda Elite 50 and 01 Honda Elite 80.

Thanks again for being here and caring enough to formulate intelligent and helpful responses.

not sure how much i helped in all of this, but your welcome  .
This site i really full of great information that is next to imposable to find else where.

i really like the paint job on the spree, it turned out very good. The 92 elite dont look to bad, im sure that will turn out equally as nice. I also love the color of your 01. You have a really nice collection going there.
