Is this an easy process? is it necessary if I buy a PG short or long?

It's easy. Two ways to procede. Either put bigger jets in till it blubbers then back off one or run it till is siezes then put a bigger one in. The second seems most popular but I prefer the first.

What he said, better yo go too big than too small, the jet is just a special screw with a hole in it inside the carb
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
