Ok finishing up gear install! Final concerns...

Post by Elite-ist »

First of all from may last thread I wanted to know -

My aftermarket gears are thinner and less beefy than my stock ones is this normal or did I get bad quality parts?

I just finished bolting in the plate on that holds the oil and actual gears - can I tell if I need to remove that infamous spacer washer at this point or do i need to put the wheel, clutch etc back on to see if its not right?

those gears are fine. the aftermarket ones are just made thiner.

if you put the gear cover back on, and the rear wheel spins with no drag, then your fine. if the tire wont move then take back apart and remove washer.

im having a hard time deciding whether i am experiencing aberrant drag or not. How pronounced will it be?

there is always some sort of drag, i mean, you are tuning 3 gears and 2 shafts.

if you tighten down your gear cover and the wheel dont move. then you have to take the washer out.
you should know if its there. it will be like having the brakes on.

For me drag came in the form of "back wheel totally locked up". You'll be able to tell :P
