NO WAY!!!

Post by SprEE*MP* »

I was taking off the front pulley so i could take off the belt on my '84 Spree, and the nut AND the shaft part somehow stipped!! WHAT DO I DO? how can I fix it? Would it be worth buying a new shaft?

Using a rethreading die of the right thread pitch and size you ould rethread the shaft and using a tap of the same size you might be able to save the nut and chase the threads. Or you could order a new nut or go to a fastener store and buy a nut.

It would be better to get a nut the next size down and rethread the shaft to that size, rather than to try to salvage already striped threads.

bubble gum and duct tape

I'd go with bear's suggestion, try rethreading to a smaller size nut

I would be happy with stripped, my '85 broke right off where the thread starts. Looks like a new crank for me. Nice winter project.

What, you mean theres another way to fix problems? lol

I would also go for rethreading rather than trying to bodge together something that doesnt want to know you
