WOT sound: NEE NEE NEE NEE -- 2001 Elite SR

Post by bryanska »

Hi - when I am cruising wide open on flat ground (35 MPH) I hear/feel an oscillation in the scooter. The motor kinda goes "NEE NEE NEE NEE" very subtly, as if I'm bouncing off a rev limiter.

It's not a hard bounce, and no power is lost. Mostly a difference in sound.

Normal? Not normal?

2001 Elite 50SR (SA50 I think)
2100 miles
Totally stock
Never de-carbon'd pipes or manifold
New NGK plug
Very slightly out-of-true front wheel after a crash (replaced front fork)
The more I learn, the less I know.

may have something to do with it.

otherwise if no power lost, I wouldn't worry about it. 35mph is right speed for stock S
projects galore :nerd:

Plug chop
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Not when tuned correctly. Should scream right along real smooth.

and my main jet was backed out 1.5-2 turns, so it was tight when i put it back together

dont know if that had anything to do w/ the noise, but that was the only problem i seen

Is your plug properly gapped? My scoot cuts out at high RPMs unless I have a very tiny gap.. like 0.7mm or less.

Probably the C.D.I ... change it to a racing C.D.I box..that's what I did..it takes of the rev limiter...so at top speed you won't hear that...and it throws more spark...so you'll probably top out at 36 or 37mph

your nuts. the stock CDI isnt rev limited at all. And the stock spark is already blue/white, you cant throw more spark.
