Been working on a 1988 Honda Elite Lx, and thru this forum, i have learned to clean the carb--many many times, replace piston rings, make sure i have the right 2 stoke oil in the engine, and recharged and recharged the battery.
On a hunch, after reading 1 post, i disconnected the exhaust from the cylinder head and kickstarted the darn thing and off it went!!!
of course smoke was coming out of the engine, and it was loud but wow, now I have something.
I put the exhaust back in and it would not start, disconnected and away it went again.
Where do I go next? By the way, I bought it from a coworker for 50 dollars because it wouldnt start.
thanks in advance.
Finally Vrrooom!!!!

Check for buildup in the exhaust port of the engine.
Clean the exhaust system(soak in lye solution for an afternoon, instructions on this site)
If there is a washer welded in where the exahust bolts to them otor grind it out
DONT RIDE WITHOUT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM

I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
