Elite SR + X = ~47 mph... X=?

Okay, so I should be getting the title for my '97 Elite SR put in my name in the next day or so. I'd like it to do around 45 mph (~47).
If I am to understand correctly: it only needs an upgraded variator and different ration gears (8:1?) to achieve the desired speed.
Is this correct? How much am I looking at spending? I expect it to be roughly $100.
I also plan to call VT cycle as well as visiting the local 'eccentric' scooter shop for the parts and final advice.
What do my technical bruddahs at HondaSpree.net think?

highspeed pulley, and 9:1 gears.

vtcycles. $105 after shipping. top speed will be 45-50mph pending on weight and wind.

So, if I eat a lot of beans, and take off my sombrero (for aerodynamicity), I might be able to pull off 45+ ? I think I may do that.

Now, I need to decide what to do with the Spree. I would love to keep it, but I could sell it easy and probably make $5. :wink:

Also, I have been running Pennzoil Air Cooled for oil, but wanted to try out the Klotz smell. Would it work okay to buy a quart of the Klotz and blend in a lil' bit with my regular oil? The Pennzoil spec sheet says it's not compatible with tcw3's (when I had both in my reservoir, midrange throttle sucked, so I turkey basted it out), but the Klotz is only "TC" rated, and says its compatible with most other oils. I think it was the Techniplate, that I was looking at.

I was ranting; I guess I'm surprised that I'll be set for roughly a 'bill'. *, I was suprised when I took off the muffler to check out the washer I'd have to drill and found out there wasn't one. (SR stupid!)

I just ordered from VT in HI. Gears and a variator. $111.00 Shipped. It took 6 days to arrive. I have ordered stuff from Ohio that took longer to arrive. Just call them up. Their web site is a little lacking. But they most likely have what you need.

there website is very lacking. but luckily you call them up and they have the best customer service there it.

Why doesn't anybody just throw a kit on the scoot first instead of gears?
I guess it would be more expensive, but not by much. I'm sure that there is a reason, and I have a few ideas, but figured I'd ask everyone else.

If you did just use a kit, I imagine it would be a wheelie machine with the stock low ratio.

You are correct about the wheelies, I think most want higher top speed as first "cheaper" mod, then power. 8)

"Wheelie machine" is no joke, i had my 92 elite with a 63cc bore kit, that thing wanted to lift the front end every time you gunned it. BUT the thing topped out at like 38mph.

A bore kit just adds massive take off and power, it really dont do anything for the top end.

the sr is derestricted all you need are gears & carb jet=53mph
