new petcock problems

Post by austin07 »

I ordered a new petcock and installed it on my honda elite lx, and installed clear gas lines for troubleshooting.

It worked for a couple of days, then I saw gas coming in from the vaccuum side which flooded the engine.

Checked and saw that the fuel line connection was pinched, I reassembled and have fuel flow, but now still have a little fuel coming in off the vaccuum side.

Before I have to get another petcock, did the pinch in the fuel line put too much pressure to it and mess it up or is it salvagable?

I am getting the runaround from the online company I ordered it from, they say I need to get a certified mechanic to look at the part to see if it is defective, even though i told them the clear lines show gas to carb, gas going to inlet vaccuum side. Then they told me that they would give me 10.00 credit if i ordered a new one. Huh? First I need to spend 32.50 for a mechanic to tell me the parts defective, which is obvious, then order a new part for 40.00 and get 10.00 credit for being screwed. Must be that new math.

*, I'm a certified mechanic and I can tell from here it's screwed as there should never be fuel in the vacuum line, ever! I suspect the diaphragm is ruptured.
