oil change help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by rain »

ok guys so don't bash on me or anything but this may be a dumb question for people with better knowledge then me and then again may be good for people who are also knew and not so knowledgeable to scooters/mopeds.....

ok so i've been reading up on some of the post about engine oil, oil mixture, and gear oil and its kind of confusing me :? .... i have an 89 honda elite sb50 engine and under the seat of my scooter is the gas tank, battery, and an oil tank....so the question here is....is that the oil tank for oil mixture? and if it is what oil goes into that tank? or is that where you add the oil to fill up the engine when you do an oil change after you drain the engine oil?

next is where is the drain plug located at for the engine, and where do you add the oil and what oil is used? and if i'm correct its the honda G2 two stroke oil correct?

now for the gear oil....where is the drain plug for the gear oil and how would you add gear oil and know when you've added enough oil? and again what oil is used for that also?

lol if this may frustrate you then sorry bout the post but yeah thanks for you're replies and helping a brotha out

so the question here is....is that the oil tank for oil mixture? YES OIL FOR FUEL MIXTURE and if it is what oil goes into that tank? HONDA GN2 or is that where you add the oil to fill up the engine when you do an oil change after you drain the engine oil?

next is where is the drain plug located at for the engine, and where do you add the oil and what oil is used? and if i'm correct its the honda G2 two stroke oil correct? THERE IS NO DRAIN PLUG FOR THE ENGINE OIL. THE ENGINE IS LUBRICATED THROUGH THE MIXTURE OF OIL AND GAS. THE ENGINE BURNS THE FUEL AND THE LEFT OVER OIL LUBRICATES THE ENGINE.

now for the gear oil....where is the drain plug for the gear oil and how would you add gear oil and know when you've added enough oil? THE DRAIN PLUG FOR THE TRANSMISSION GEARS IS LOCATED @ THE REAR OF THE ENGINE TO THE RIGHT OF THE KICKSTARTER and again what oil is used for that also? THE OIL IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY IS REGULAR HONDA MOTORCYCLE OIL ASK THE DEALER TO BE SURE

lol if this may frustrate you then sorry bout the post but yeah thanks for you're replies and helping a brotha out

Scooter motors are 2 strokes and have no crankcase oil so you can't change it. The oil in the tank mixes with the fuel to lube the crankcase bearings. The only oil you change is the gear oil. The oil in the tank gets added to as it is used, but not changed.

If you are not currently using the Honda GN2 then you will need to drain your oil tank and refill it with the proper oil to avoid costly repairs down the road
