missing part??

Post by Samargh »

Further to trying to work out the butchered wiring on my 86 spree.

please look at page 14-7 in the spree manual found on this website. It shows the area of the scooter just forward of the carb. unfortunately the detail is not good, and i can't tell what is supposed to be there.

On my scoot (which has had the electric start pulled and a kick start fitted), where the black tubular thing (from the picture) is is just a bunch of wires; the white connector block is unconnected, a yellow plug is cross wired to a black socket, another yellow socket is floating free and the white wire plug has been insulated with tape.

The section in the manual is labelled Charging/lamp coil inspection.

Is that black tube the "charging/lamp coil", or are the loose wires a result of having the electric start removed? Can anyone tell from the above photo if anything is missing?

When I have e-mailed a supplier asking for the price of this, he has replied "Complete stator as only 50 plus freight ". What exactly is he quoting me for?

cheers

depending on the year, the clip is the starter, the white, yellow, and black with red stripe is the stator. the green, and blue with yellow stripe is the pick up coil. the yellow and green is the electric choke. 8)

So where is the charging/lamp coil that the manual refers to??? and is that what you are calling the pickup coil?

No the pickup coil is the sensor that tells the ignition when to fire.
