Help cant get timing stator thing off

Post by espears »

Picked up an 86 spree but needs new piston and sleeve, now i think something is caught in the flywheel? The thing that is attatched to the piston rod that rotates to push the piston up and down. It can rotate but sometimes gets stuck, so i think some debris might be in there and im trying to get it out. I have to split not the crankcase but the other case and get in there to clean it. How do i get off the timing thing that is covering the stator coils??

Anyone know?

Thanks

I think you are talking about getting the flywheel off.
Here's a thread discussing tools for removal

He is rtalking about the crankshaft, The cases will have to be split, there is probably a chunk O piston in there.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
