84 aero 50 only starts on starter fluid

Post by alvin »

Hello All,

I have an 84 aero nb50m and I have cleaned and cleaned the carb.

It will only start on starting fluid and I can keep her running with little

squirts of gasoline into the carb. I am getting fuel to the bowl and I

have replaced the float valve. New petcock and am dumbfounded.

Good spark, new plug new cap and new fuel filter.

When I give it throttle nothing happens! It just races and dies

until all of the starting fluid is spent.

Any help would be appreciated.

Definately a clogged carb. Your really have to clean the jets good because they are so small.

Did you try shining light though the holes in a dark room to make sure they were clear?

Avoid starting fluid, it known to do BAD things to 2 strokes.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

so your carb is super clean, ever try checking your final drive pulley, it 2 pins that ride an "s" groove, if you don't grease them every yr. if the pins wear out leaving you're done. remove the center spring and look for dimples on the sleeve, if you see any your rear pulley is shot
