The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

CA regulations for spree-like scooters

Post by elbeardo »

hey... new to the site... I was wondering if anyone knows the skinny on regulations for scooters here in CA. Do i have to register it? License? Helmet? Can it only be ridden in the bike lane? Where can I find these answers? Bought a spree at a garage sale for 40 bucks, and it runs pretty good!

CA regulations for Spree-types...

Post by Kinjia »

It looks like Spree-type vehicles are considered "Motor Driven Cycles" (basically a motorcycle with less than 149cc engine)

It also looks like you'll (we'll) need an M2 endorsement on the regular old Class C license... and you'll have to wear a helmet.

Full details should be available from the California Motorcycle Handbook, which you can download here:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/pubs.htm

Good luck!
